Stories in Stone
(Denis Keldie/James Wallace)
I will never forget you,
no Ill never know your name
From across the wild blue ocean
To this ancient place I came;
Looking for a connection
To the mysteries of this land
Where the rocks keep their secrets
In the silence where they stand
I was standing on the bridge
Near the town where you were born
The names of long dead lovers
Were carved into the stone;
The sweetness of the music
That was carried on that stream
Whispering softly to my heart
Like a long forgotten dream
I can see, the pain and glory
In the stories, written here in stone
I have walked the path of many
Who once lived upon this land
Where the rocks will tell their stories
To the one who understands;
I have seen the strength of spirit
In this most sacred place
Where the living rock was molded
By undying acts of faith
I can see, the pain and glory
In the stories, written here in stone
I will never forget you
Though Ill never know your name
If my soul is a fire
Passed down from an ancient flame;
A well of deepest mystery
Like lightening through the dark
Your truth emerged to find me
Like an arrow finds its mark
